I don't want to start a group (msn, yahoo, etc.) dot com-The subject of embarrassment

Embarrassment is one of the common problems many of us have to face in life. Many of us do not have perfect minds or as I would call it in the trade, the minds of gods or of angels. Embarrassment is when someone makes some kind of mistake or something like that and feels very ashamed about doing it.

My idea is that I want to get at the root of it and it may not make too many people happy. I want to have the disclaimer here that the opinions expressed here are those of myself and may not represent those of tripod or anyone else associated with tripod or lycos or any other similar group.

I am afraid to go on message boards, discussion groups, newsgroups, and the like on the internet for the very reason that I am likely to make some kind of "goof". I posted a message on one message board recently and I was sorry I did and vowed I will never post there again. I think many of you who are reading this message face similar type problems.

My philosphy is that the reason there is such a thing as embarrassment has something to do with the way people are and the nature of people. It would be nice to live in a world where embarrassment would be nonexistant. I think the reason there is embarrassment is because people are very unforgiving and very unaccommodating. It is expected that......and so forth. When I am writing this webpage, there are probably many typographical and grammatical errors and the like here. People expect you to be a perfect writer. Unfortunately, I think that we do not have the mind of gods as I call it in the trade, or a mind of a higher order being than we are. We are of a higher order than the animals and some animals are of a higher order than other animals. I believe it is possible to have beings with a higher order mind than we have. Because of the limitations of our minds, we do make mistakes and goofs. You can only expect so much out of a person. I think a lot of people have unrealistic expectations for many people and I think some of those reading this webpage have unrealistic expections on how I should write this webpage. There is a reason why I titled this webpage "I don't want to start a group dot com". I mean if you don't do everything just right, people are going to ridicule you and the like. Other words like ostrucize come to mind. I think people who are like that aren't very nice. I probably have spelled the word "ostrucize" all wrong. They expect you to go to a dictionary and look the word up. You wonder why there are so many burdens in this life, why this life is so stressful.

A good example of an embarrassing situation is when you see someone in the act of undressing or you are changing your clothes someplace in the woods (say to go swimming) and someone sees you. I was discussing this with someone recently whom I unintentionally caught her in the act of undressing and we both agreed the way to go if I can explain it right was lets say a situation comes up where I did see someone undressing, I must do everything I can to make sure that person is not going to feel embarrassed or to relieve the embarrassment of that person by being very accommodating to his or her mistakes.

February 2008 I haven't been to this site for a while so I would like to update it a little bit. I still think after all these years that embarrassment has something to do with the kind of people that are around us, whether they are accommodating or unaccommodating. I try to make an effort myself when I see someone do something that would normally make him embarrassed to be as accomodating as possible. I think being accommodation is something that comes with maturity.
